Guide – How To Start – Filezilla FTP over TLS Server on Windows Server 2019 on Amazon

Configuring and connecting to the Filezilla FTP over TLS Server on Windows Server 2019

To connect via RDP, you must create a password for the connection first. To do this, use the following Guide.

Configuring the server

1. After the VM startup, the Administration interface – FileZilla Server runs automatically

2. On the VM desktop, you can start (1) and stop (2) FileZilla Server. Also, the Administration interface – FileZilla Server can be run (3) if it does not start automatically

3. In the window, click Connect to Server and OK as displayed below (the password field is empty)

4. Click ‘Yes’ to obtain and save the certificate

5. When the connection has been established, select Server->Configure

6. Then it’s necessary to set a Passive mode port range. 50000-51000 ports are used when transferring data to the server.

7. To set up local users and give them access to the directories locally on your server, you need to select Rights management->Users

8. Enter username (1), and password (2), grant access to the required local folders (3), set user rights (4), and click OK (5)

Connecting to FTP using “FileZilla Client”

1. To connect to the FileZilla FTP Server, it is recommended to use the “FileZilla Client” application (you can download it from the link: Download FileZilla Client for Windows (64bit x86)).

2. When connecting to the FTP server, you need to follow these steps:

1. In the <Host> field, enter the VM IP address
2. In the <Username> field, enter the username created in step 6 of the previous section
3. In the <Password> field, enter the user password created in step 6 of the previous section
4. In the <Port> field, enter port 21
5. When the data is entered, press Quickconnect

3. After starting the connection, a window with a certificate will appear; in it, you must select the Always trust certificate item and click OK
4. After that, you will successfully connect to the server.
