Cacti collect statistical data for specific time intervals and allow you to display them in graphical form. Mostly standard templates are used to display statistics on processor load, RAM allocation, the number of running processes, and the use of incoming/outgoing traffic.

Connection to Cacti®: Service Monitoring Server on Linux 7.9
To start the server, run the VM through Amazon.
- Install PuTTY – Link to download the application. Start PuTTY.
- To connect to a virtual machine, you need to generate a “private key” in advance. This can be done using the following instructions (by choosing the “file format:” option “.ppk” in step 3)

- Go to the SSH section on the left pane, and then to Auth.
- In the Auth section, click <Browse> and specify the path to the .ppk file that was generated earlier.
- Go to the Sessions section, enter the IP address of the virtual machine, and click <Open>.
- In the window that appears, click <Accept>.
- In the console that opens, you must enter the standard login that appears when creating a virtual machine – centos.
- In the console, enter the following command:
> cat /credentials.txt
In response, you will get the username and password to log in Cacti.
- In the browser enter http://ipVM/cacti. For example http://11.22.123.123/cacti
Enter your username and password in the window that opens.
Username: admin
Password: In the password field, enter the Instance ID of your VM
and click “Login
Also, the data is duplicated in the file / credentials.txt (this command was written in step 8)
- While on the site, point in the hover to the upper right corner to log in as admin.
- Click “Change Password”.
- Create a new password and click “Save”.
