The connection to PostgreSQL using pgAdmin 4 through SSH Tunnel

  1. Go to the pgAdmin downloading page – Download
  2. Select the desired version (in this guide we used v.4.17)
  3. Click on the installation file to download it
    Select the appropriate file to start downloading
  4. After the file is downloaded, run it and finish the installation process
  5. Start the app. By default, the interface will be opened in the new tab of your browser.
  6. Click on “Add New Server” on the main page
    After clicking Add New Server icon, the pop-up window will appear
  7. In the appeared pop-up window in the “Name” field enter the name of your connection
    Type your connection name
  8. Go to the “Connection” tab
  9. In the Host name/address field type 127.0.0.1
  10. In the “Password” field enter the password which you have used at connecting to the virtual machine
    In Connection tab fill in the necessary fields
  11. Go to the “SSH Tunnel” tab
  12. Click the “Use SSH tunneling” switch
  13. In the “Tunnel host” field enter the address of the virtual machine
  14. In the “Username” field type the username to connect to VM
  15. In the “Password” field enter the password, which you have used at connecting to the virtual machine
    Go to SSH Tunnel tab and type the password and other relevant info
  16. Click on “Save” to confirm the changes and establish the connection.
